I have some answer for this ok so on saturday July two, 2011 i was traveling to the coast With my fiance and two brothers. i do not have a massive engine in my automobile so i don’t push it. i set my cruise manage to 75 mph and was keeping up with traffic and was in between 2 vehicles 1 i front and 1 in back. i was tired and pulled more than (soon after seeing a highway patrol) but we had been pulling more than to switch drivers, after pulling more than the highway patrol is also pulling in behind us and turning on his lights he then comes to the window and asks for the usual, he then states that he pulled me over for speeding i tried asking him how was that passable with my cruise control on and with the vehicle in front of me and behind me most likely going the very same speed but he did not wanna here it so he just goes back to the cruiser and writes me up and then adjustments his story and tells me that the speed is 70 mph everyone in the automobile tells him he had said 75mph ahead of but he tells us he by no means stated that, that he told us 70mph considering that the beginning. after i ask if i can see the speed gun for i can see for myself the speed that i was allegedly going but he says that we r not allowed to see that….????? so i get stuck with a ticket for going 84mph in a 70mph and a fix it ticket for not having my license on me which he says to make a copy of my license and fax it in and that will erase. getting that i never got a speeding ticket i would like to know what takes place now and must i fight it ooo had been i got pulled more than at is about two hrs away from were i live so if i fight it do i have to go to court there? and also i had gone to court for a reckless driving accusation about 3 months prior to this but thanks to witnesses and security cameras i was confirmed innocent but i was told by the judge to stay out of trouble for 6 months so idk what occurs now with this either? man this is difficult 1 a lot more factor the officer also got my address wrong on my ticket rather of 943 he put 443 so what do i do about this? ok i believe i am accomplished and this is almost everything that happened. if somebody would please assist me out and point me in the appropriate direction i would really appreciate it.
But i have great answer for this dilemma like this.

All you can do is go to court and pray the judge believes you instead of the officer. Odds are that you will lose.

I will answer in this manner:
“I tried asking him how was that passable with my cruise control on?” A: People tend to forget that even with their cruise control on they can make the vehicle go faster with their foot on the accelerator.
“After i ask if i can see the speed gun for i can see for myself the speed that i was allegedly going but he says that we r not allowed to see that.” A: Actually, he does NOT have a legal obligation to show the radar. The courts find that people do not have the certified training nor does the radar testify in court therefore it is only used as a “tool” to verify the officers initial observations verifying those observations.
“I set my cruise control to 75 mph” and “but everyone in the car tells him he had said 75mph.” A: Lets just say for giggles that he DID say 75mph zone. It doesn’t matter in that the speed limit IS 70mph. The fact that you were going 5mph over the limit is the violation.
In my opinion…5mph over the limit, although technically speeding, is a pretty cheap shot by the officer!
Should you fight the ticket for speeding??? Not if you don’t want to get out of the courtroom feeling silly for saying you weren’t speeding when you were!
You may try getting in to a drivers improvement course and be done with the whole issue!
Now here’s the real kicker.
If you hire an attorney and pay him about $ 300 or so, he can get the charges reduced to a non-moving violation and it doesn’t put points on your drivers license and it does NOT cause your insurance premium to jump up out of reason.
Others will tell you to go to court and plead “Prayer for judgment” and if it’s your first offense the judge will usually grant you the prayer, and you pay court cost only (usually about $ 100) and walk away so long as you don’t get any other tickets in a year.
BUT I can tell you that I did that on the advice of some friends, and when my insurance renewed the premium went up $ 600 a year for the next three years! So instead of paying the attorney three hundred bucks to handle it, I paid the court one hundred and the insurance company $ 1,800 for that supposed “dismissed” ticket.
I’ve been around a long time (lol) and I’ve had a few speeding tickets in my lifetime. A couple I tried to deal with myself, and the other three or four I always get an attorney. Gave my son the same advice and he tried one by himself and the second one he got an attorney.
Those insurance companies will eat you alive by raising your rates if you don’t get an attorney to represent you. Of course, the REAL way to save money is not to speed, but it took me a while to learn that lesson.
