where i live we have cctv on our main street and outside the bars. during normal working hours the cameras are semi monitored in the police station by a cop who has a lot of other jobs to do as well… so if something happens we have to go back through the footage. but on wednesday, thursday, friday and saturday nights it is monitored full time and anything of note is recorded in a book as well as the fact that the footage is stored. police can be despatched to prevent a fight esculating or even happening. you would be surprised how many people KNOW the cameras are there yet still get up to mischief. the cameras are excellent quialty and you can pan around and zoom in and out and even at night can 99 times out of 100 get a clear view of a number plate or a persons face. i think its a great idea.
