Toshiba Battery Wont Charge

A few weeks ago I was using my laptop Toshiba Satellite L100 on battery only and only cut entirely. The battery has about 60% of the costs left in it but the computer will not recognize it. Knowing that the battery is worn out as well, I decided to get a new one but the problem still exists.
